8.2 Employment practice




8.2.1 - Does your university as a body pay all staff and faculty at least the living wage, defined as the local living wage (if government defines this) or the local poverty indicator for a family of
four (expressed as an hourly wage)?

The Islamic Azad University of Mashhad complies with the labor law of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. the university does its attempt in keeping the relative well-being of its employees. On special and various national and religious days, the efforts of the employees are appreciated through material rewards.


8.2.2 - Does your university as a body recognise unions & labour rights (freedom of association & collective bargaining) for all, including women & international staff?

Islamic Azad University of Mashhad establishes meaningful and constructive relations with all unions as well as trade unions in order to defend justice and legitimacy, and it fully respects the rights of all tastes, races and generations, including international employees. As an instance and at the international level, In Kabul, the Islamic Azad University receives assistance from local staff.


8.2.3 - Does your university as a body have a policy on ending discrimination in the workplace (including discrimination based on religion, sexuality, gender, age)?

Considering wise and sensible measures, Islamic Azad University of Mashhad, is considerate of the widespread impediment in societies known as glass ceiling. It opposes stereotyped actions in every field, and what brings the university to its destination is meritocracy and merit selection. All minorities and heavenly religions are respected by the university.


8.2.4 - Does your university as a body have a policy commitment against forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child labour?

Based on its fundamental beliefs and values, Islamic Azad University of Mashhad Branch strongly and publicly opposes all inhumane behavior and does not tolerate any discrimination and injustice. As an instance, in academic laws and regulations and in the by-laws of dealing with the violations of the employees a heading related to unpaid work is foreseen and the university stands strongly against oppressive human behavior.   


8.2.5 - Does your university as a body have a policy on guaranteeing equivalent rights of workers when outsourcing activities to third parties?

Islamic Azad University of Mashhad Branch has full and transparent supervision when outsourcing and handing over works to the private sector. Even slight deviations from the payment of wages will lead to sever consequences for violator.


8.2.6 - Does your university as a body have a policy on pay scale equity including a commitment to measurement and elimination of gender pay gaps?

Islamic Azad University of Mashhad has a committee under the name of standardization of salaries and wages, especially in terms of gender. Through a leadership view, the committee considers all the components affecting salaries and rewards and prevents class differences. It eliminates any factor leading to discrimination from its initial appearance.


8.2.7 - Does your university as a body measure/track pay scale gender equity?

The Islamic Azad University of Mashhad believes in gender equality which is arising from the Words of God. This thinking is manifested in all actions, thoughts, behaviors, as well as deeds in all fields of the university.


8.2.8 - Does your university as a body have a process for employees to appeal on employee rights and/or pay?

When drafting employment contracts and in during the compilation of pay rise lists, there is a heading for all employees to review and object and prepare evidence or complaint. The applications are processed in the shortest possible time. In the view of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the fair and just payment of human rights is considered as an indisputable assumption of lifestyle.

Qualitative description 8-3:

Most of the budget of the Islamic Azad University of Mashhad is allocated to salaries of the employees and staff and this is a sign of the concern that the university has for its human resources. The capital of any university depends on the human resources of that organization, and if the Islamic Azad University of Mashhad wishes to have a world level ranking, it has to improve through the creativity of its human resources.

Qualitative description 8-4:

Every year the Industrial Relations Office of the Islamic Azad University of Mashhad Branch introduces a group of graduates to industrial, commercial and manufacturing jobs so that researchers can gain a stable position and a stable balance in the field of society's economy. The intertwining of employment and education is one of the blessed works that the university has done and has achieved many achievements so far which is an indication of the social responsibility and high vision of university officials.

Qualitative description 8-5:

Islamic Azad University of Mashhad was established about 40 years ago and it has over 40,000 students. About 650 employees with different degrees from diploma to doctorate are working at this university which is a valuable per capita compared to other similar national and international universities. In order to maintain and update the knowledge of the employees educational planning and empowerment of the staff is done in different ways on a yearly basis.
